Treatment
How is Sleep Apnoea treated?
You may have been recommended many options for the treatment of your sleep apnoea, including CPAP Therapy, Mandibular Splint, Sleep Position Therapy and Sleep Education.
What is CPAP therapy?
This is essentially an air pump designed to deliver a pressure of air that acts as a splint to keep your airways open and allow you to breathe naturally. The air is delivered via a mask system either through the nose or mouth and nose.
CPAP therapy significantly improves your sleep quality, daytime alertness, motivation, energy levels and general health; but it does take time to adjust to…and that is where we can help with our clinical and technical support.
CPAP Treatment is the gold standard for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. The devices are intricate technical machines that are calibrated, monitored, assessed, and revised to treat your individual health needs by our experienced Sleep Technicians.
CPAP Hire
If you are not sure how you will tolerate CPAP therapy, Dusk till Dawn Sleep Centre provides a trial period. This means you can hire the CPAP machine to give you piece of mind and help you understand your therapy.
This involves routine reviews with our trained technicians to support and reassure you, as well as determining the correct air pressure range to treat you comfortably. You will also have the option to trial different masks to be sure you have the appropriate one for you.
Mandibular Advancement Splint
The splint is a mouth guard worn at night when you are sleeping. The idea is to advance your bottom jaw to help keep your airway open. Dusk till Dawn can point you in the right direction and provide the appropriate Dentist who specialise in making these devices.
CPAP therapy will stop sleep apnoea straight away in almost all people who use it. A mandibular splint will usually improve your sleep apnoea, but it may not completely stop it. So if you have moderate or severe sleep apnoea, CPAP may be a better option.
Sleep Positional Device
(Night Shift)
A Night Shift is a positional device, worn on the back of your neck and abdomen, senses when you are sleeping on your back and without waking you up; the device uses gentle vibrations to encourage you to shift back on to your side.
Hire a Sleep Positional Device
Dusk till Dawn offers a trial of the positional device. This means you can hire the device for 1 week and enable you to try before you buy. We can obtain data from the device to prove you have not slept on your back and monitor your snoring in other sleep positions. This will help in making an informative decision regarding the treatment of your sleep apnoea or snoring.
EPAP Therapy
(Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure)
A treatment for sleep apnoea that helps keep your airway open while you sleep. It uses small valves placed over the nostrils that create gentle resistance when you breathe out. This back pressure helps prevent the airway from collapsing, reducing breathing interruptions and improving sleep quality. EPAP therapy does not require a machine or mask, making it a simple and portable option for some patients.
Sleep Education
Individualised Sleep Plans are thoughtfully designed by the experienced team at Dusk Till Dawn Sleep Centre, grounded in the latest evidence-based research and best-practice clinical guidelines. Each plan is carefully tailored to the individual’s unique sleep patterns, challenges, and lifestyle, ensuring personalised, practical, and effective support for long-term sleep health and wellbeing.
How is Insomnia treated?
It really does depend on what is causing the Insomnia. At Dusk till Dawn we can arrange a consultation to discuss your sleep habits and history, from here we will consider if you would benefit from having a sleep study. This will monitor your sleep patterns to determine if there is an underlying sleep disorder.
A sleep plan will be designed for each individual to fit best with your lifestyle. Sleep education is implemented based on modern research.
